On the 18th of July 2024, we #celebrated the outre

On the 18th of July 2024, we #celebrated the outreach and development efforts carried out in Batticaloa by our 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗮 𝗖𝗗𝗖.

The Batticaloa centre facility was gifted to #CAL in 2012 by @tonbridge.school. Since its inception, the centre has been a beacon of hope to the community.

Together with the students & #families we serve, government officials, community business partners and the #team from Tonbridge School, the Batticaloa CDC was officially declared open by Mr James Priory, Headmaster at Tonbridge School.

Our centre will proudly continue to serve & #protect the community,“𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀”, in Batticaloa.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Tonbridge School for their incredible #support in 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗮.

Access to clean #water is a fundamental need, yet many in Batticaloa have faced #challenges in meeting even their basic water needs, such as water for drinking and cooking. Limited access to clean water has also prevented #children from attending school, as there is insufficient water to wash themselves before school.

#Thanks to this essential project, the community now has access to clean water, ensuring better health, consistent #education and overall well-being.

#Together, we are making a positive impact and paving the way for a brighter future.

We had an amazing week at the 𝗧𝗼𝗻𝗯𝗿

We had an amazing week at the 𝗧𝗼𝗻𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗖𝘂𝗽 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰.
Five teams competed in the tournament, each team consisting of talented #children from our centre who have been mentored by #incredible volunteers from @tonbridge.school.

Massive #congratulations to the Batti Kings for winning the tournament.
This event wasn’t just about #cricket - it was also an opportunity to discover exceptional talent, especially among the girls. We identified budding #leaders and the children learned invaluable lessons on discipline, structure and #teamwork.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated and made this event a #success.

Our Volunteers jumped right into action, helping

Our Volunteers jumped right into action, helping to revamp the 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐚 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 for the upcoming Opening Ceremony. Without #hesitation, they rolled up their sleeves and worked tirelessly to bring a fresh look to our center. We are grateful for their hard work and the positive energy they have brought to this #project.

This week, volunteers from @tonbridge.school visit

This week, volunteers from @tonbridge.school visited 2 schools that #CAL partners with in Batticaloa. This visit was an eye-opening and heartwarming experience for everyone involved.

Through this tour, the #volunteers were able to:

* Learn about the #children and their communities.
* Gain insights into the hardship faced by #families in the community.
* ⁠Understand the barriers to #education in this remote part of Sri Lanka.

Our volunteers contributed to our children through #teaching & sharing knowledge, playing games & having fun with the children, observing classes to understand the #educational environment and engaging in meaningful conversations with the #students.

Their dedication and compassion have left a lasting impact on both the students and the volunteers themselves.
#Together, we are working towards breaking down barriers to education and creating a brighter #future for these amazing children.

We are incredibly #proud to share that volunteers

We are incredibly #proud to share that volunteers from @tonbridge.school dedicated their afternoons to help our team conduct #Child Rights awareness programmes at the #CAL Batticaloa Centre.
These sessions were designed to empower the children and #help them recognize the value of their own experiences.

Our #goals were clear:
* Enable #children to understand their unique perspectives.
* Emphasise the importance of their role as experts in their own #lives.
* Encourage them to act as #spokespeople for themselves and their peers.

Through #engaging and informative sessions, we aimed to give these children their "𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲" and ensure that their voices are heard loud and clear.

We are #inspired by the enthusiasm and strength of these young individuals and are committed to supporting their #journey towards becoming confident & articulate advocates for themselves and their communities.
