Transforming Promise to Action

On November 20 1989, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child set a global standard for protecting the fundamental rights of children.

Today, our brave young advocates from CAL Child Development Centres across Sri Lanka are raising their voices for change.

These children aren't just dreaming of a better future – they're demanding it. They're calling on the Sri Lankan government to:
✓ Fulfill their commitments to children's rights
✓ Address systemic inequities
✓ Create meaningful change for every child

Their message is clear: It's time to turn promises into action.

Teach Sri Lanka @teachsrilanka (TSL) and Child Act

Teach Sri Lanka @teachsrilanka (TSL) and Child Action Lanka (CAL) are pleased to announce a collaborative partnership aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for less privileged children across six districts in Sri Lanka including Batticaloa, Colombo, Galle, Kandy, Kilinochchi and Nuwara Eliya. This partnership will focus on supporting CAL's preschool education program, an integral part of their comprehensive child development initiatives.

CAL is dedicated to transforming the lives of children through education, child protection, health and nutrition, and community sustainability. These programs equip children with the necessary tools for a brighter future. Similarly, TSL is committed to promoting equitable education for all Sri Lankan children, regardless of gender, creed, or socioeconomic background. By bridging educational gaps, TSL ensures that every child has access to quality education.

Through this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), TSL and CAL will work together to assist [250] students, providing them with essential educational resources and support. This partnership underscores our shared commitment to fostering a nurturing learning environment that empowers children and uplifts communities.

We are excited to embark on this journey together, believing that by joining forces, we can make a significant impact in the lives of these children and contribute to the overall development of our nation.

We extend our 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘁 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 to Acuity Knowledge Partners for their 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 and 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝟭.𝟮 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗲𝘀.

This contribution provides essential school supplies for the #children at Child Action Lanka, #empowering them to start the new school year with a sense of readiness and confidence.

Beyond this #donation, the employees at Acuity Knowledge Partners also dedicate their time each week to conduct IT classes at our 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗼 𝗖𝗗𝗖. Through these sessions, our children gain vital IT skills, opening doors to a world of greater knowledge and #opportunities.

A big “𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂!” to

A big “𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂!” to both Nisha Berthon-Jones, who has made it possible for us to receive a #donation of 6 months worth of sanitary napkins for use by the #girls at our centers, and Hemas Holdings for facilitating this valuable initiative.

The high cost of sanitary napkins and its consequent impact on the welfare of girls and #women in Sri Lanka have become markedly pronounced in recent years, mainly due to the high taxation on menstrual #hygiene products and the decline in purchasing #power, stemming from Covid-19.

This #donation, therefore, will have significant impact on our community.
