Teacher Empowerment Program CAL is driven to crea

Teacher Empowerment Program
CAL is driven to create sustainable solutions to the Educational challenges that affect low-income communities in Sri Lanka, including teacher shortages in rural education zones that have become an urgent issue.

The Teacher Education Programme (TEP) was envisioned as a sustainable answer to reduce teacher shortages and help young people with great potential understand that they can play an important role in reducing educational inequity. This vision-driven programme equips young adults in the most rural parts of Sri Lanka with the passion, knowledge and skills they would require to not only meet the demands of the crisis and transform school learning cultures that would impact whole communities.

Gaining understanding of the factors contributing to education inequities, identifying solutions to the challenge and embracing the need for effective and holistic teaching strategies, recipients of the TEP are being trained not only as educators, but also as agents of change and transformation.

🌱 Hope Garden at CAL 🌱

The Hope Garden Project was launched in 2023, establishing vegetable gardens at every CDC that would sustainably supply our children with nourishing vegetables.

The Hope Garden project has become not only a means of nourishment, but also an avenue through which families and whole communities can take responsibility to maintain healthy and sustainable food resources, boosting CAL’s efforts towards sustainable nutrition, community ownership and sustainable practices.
