In Sri Lanka the girl child in rural and urban areas face the challenge of being under-represented or have a low attendance in school when compared to boys. This is mainly due to poverty, gender-based violence, and early marriage, lack of access to sanitary items and the lack of interest poor families have when it comes to investing in education for girls. When girls are educated they are more informed about healthcare, they marry at a later age, and they have healthier lifestyles leading to healthier family lifestyles.

$50 – can provide financial aid to secure the education of a girl child from grade 1 to Advance Level
$15 – can provide financial aid to secure the education of a girl child from grade 1 to Ordinary Level
$1315 – can provide school supplies, uniform, a pair of shoes and a school bag for one child for a year
$1580 – provides washable sanitary items for one girl child
